The Adventures of Tintin
The Adventures of Tintin (French: Les Aventures de Tintin) is a series of 24 bande dessinée albums created by Belgian cartoonist Georges Remi, better known as Herge. The comics are about a young Belgian reporter and his faithful dog Snowy who investigate thrilling mysteries, travel the world, and take on dangerous villains. The adventures are a mix of fast-paced action, high adventure and sophisticated humor.
Herge based the characters on his own experiences and those of his family, friends, and acquaintances. He wanted to present a realistic view of the world to his audience, while maintaining a sense of wonder and whimsy. The series is a major source of popular culture and has become one of the best-known European comic books.
Featuring a thrilling mystery involving a lost ship, a cryptic treasure map, and a shady opium ring, this classic adventure brings back many beloved characters including the brash Captain Haddock, the hearing-impaired Professor Calculus, the incompetent detectives Thomson and Thompson, and the opera diva Bianca Castafiore.
Set amongst the Himalayan snow, this tale is a precursor to later stories such as The Blue Lotus. It also showcases Herge's artistic breakthrough, with the characters' faces showing much more emotion than usual.
